ABOUT ME

My name is Sami Pickens, I have been diagnosed and cured of breast cancer twice, at age 28 and 29 years old. At the age of 32, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer while pregnant with our miracle baby. Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.

I am the director of Pharmacy for an amazing hospital in Oviedo, Fl. I graduated from Stetson University in 2013 with a bachelor's in Chemistry, then went on to obtain a doctorate of pharmacy in 2017 from the University of Florida. I then obtained my MBA with a focus in healthcare management in 2020.

With my background in clinical pharmacy, I feel that I have the ability to understand my treatment plans quickly as it is unfolding in real time and raise questions and concerns other patients may not be aware of throughout the breast cancer journey. This website is meant to help other survivors and thrivers learn different aspects of the breast cancer survivorship journey from my perspective, and offer both authenticities in the difficulties of the journey intertwined with the gratefulness I have continued to feel throughout it all.
