Fake Boobs (Foobs!) post op week 1

In the World of breast cancer survivors I have learned over the last few months that “foobs” is the loving term for fake boobs after mastectomies! I think it’s hilarious and I love it, and my foobs! 😂❤️

My surgery to exchange my expanders which I wore from day of my double mastectomy on May 2 until July 24 for implants went on without a hitch!

My plastic surgeon wasn’t kidding when he said that I had done the hard-work already with recovery from the double masectomy and all the “filling” appointments to expand out those tissue expanders to be ready for implants! The pictures above are leaving the house for pre-op around 10 AM, surgery was at 12.

The surgery process was much quicker, I was only under anesthesia a little over an hour and this time I knew about my insane itching reaction to diluadid, so only fentanyl was used. So, when I woke up in post op I was getting dressed and drinking a soda within 10 minutes! I was at a pain level of about 2, my incision sites were sore but the implants felt AMAZING compared to the tissue expanders. It felt surreal to be able to take a full breath without pain and I was so happy!!

……And at 240 PM I was at Chic fil a in the mall eating 😂

I have been so blessed and only needed Tylenol every 8 hours the first couple of days post op and have had almost no pain 🙂 the incision sites are itchy more so than hurting.

Know what really sucks though? Surgical bras. Cause they don’t fit under your arm pits right and I highly recommend buying yourself a nice one. My sister got me one and it was much better 💁🏻‍♀️ (post to come on things to buy loved ones going through this!)

I took 2 days off of work and was back at it early Monday morning 🙂

FOLLOW UP SURGERY APPOINTMENT 7/31

Great news a week out and my plastic surgeon said everything is healing perfectly. Unfortunately I can not workout hard or my upper body at all for SEVEN more weeks!! You all know how frustrating that is for me. But happens that the first day I can do full workouts will be my 29th birthday on September 19th! 🥳😂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

I’ve looked up cycling and some other lower body only workout classes and plan to workout my legs hard for the next 2 months!

Already very tired of wearing a low support kinda bulky bra 23.5 out of 24 hours a day but want to make sure I do everything I can to not cause issues. This also means no being out in the water for 6-8 more weeks… basically don’t do anything I love to do … everything is fine…. 😵

I am usually such a summer girl, but I’ll be happy for fall to get here this year! I am ready to move forward from this long surgery process! 🥰

Until next time!

Sami
